Lets do it again!

Hello! Its been a long time! I apologize for my absence, I’ve been crazy busy. Anyways, that means that I have a lot to update you about!

Alright! So, the cast of The Song of the Great Horned Rabbit was offered an opportunity to perform the show again at The Sea View Playwrights Theater in Staten Island. We were all so excited to have the opportunity to dive deeper into the script and get the band back together! We were all even more excited when we walked into the theater to see how much more space we have to play with! Manhattan Reparatory Theater is an amazing space and such an amazing environment to work in, but in all honesty, the space is small. Now, that provided us with the opportunity to work creatively and figure out ways to work in a small space, which allowed some amazing spontaneous moments. Working in the Sea View Playwrights Theater was just as magical and we had so much fun.

If I am being completely honest, I was happy to doing the show again, but I was dreading going all the way to Staten Island to rehearse and perform; however, as soon as I walked into the theater I immediately got the performance jitters and all of the excitement flooded in.

Overall, it was such an amazing experience. Sea View Playwright Theater was a phenomenal space to work in and the cast and crew had such a great time together. We made some changes to the script and it worked out perfectly for the space, we all had so much freedom and spontaneity, and we all had so much fun. It was really a great experience and I found so much more love for the script, cast and crew, and my character. I truly miss the show.

“Addressing Gettysburg” Podcast

Hello, hello again!

I said in my first post that there would be a seperate post for the podcast “Addressing Gettysburg” so here it is!

“Addressing Gettysburg” is a podcast about the town and the battle of Gettysburg during the civil war. The first episode is about the leadup and background before the first shot. Matt Callery is the creator, writer, editor, narrator, director… basically the whole kit and caboodle of “Addressing Gettysburg“. The podcast style is very Ken Burns, but without the pictures or video. Think of a higher pitched, younger version of Ken Burns narrator, in great detail, the wonderful and gory details of the Gettysburg Campaign, and you’ve got Matt Callery in “Addressing Gettysburg“. If you like the American Civil War, or even enjoy listening to audiobooks at all, give “Addressing Gettysburg” a listen!

Since I follow a lot of Civil War and history Instagrams, I found “Addressing Gettysburg” through an advertisement on Instagram. Matt was calling for voice actors and history lovers, and I filled both of those categories so I decided to audition. I was apparently the only one to follow the instructions for the audition so I immediately got the part; even though the sound quality was horrible because the recording booth at school was broken and I wasn’t aware of that. After a few weeks of communicating with Matt, I found out that I had the role of Tillie Pierce, a young girl from the town of Gettysburg.

Tillie Pierce was 15 during the time of the battle and later on in her life she wrote a highly acclaimed true account of what she experienced during the battle in her book “At Gettysburg, or What a Girl Saw and Heard of the Battle: A True Narrative“. Her amazing account fills this podcast with quotes about the touching, horrific, gruesome, and chaotic experiences of battle; quotes that I am lucky enough to read.

I also am one of the vocalists on the podcast, and somehow I wound up getting my parents on the podcast as well. One of my parents plays Sarah Broadhead, a young mother in the town of Gettysburg during the battle, and my the other is the main musician. She plays the trumpet, guitar, flugelhorn, bugal, banjo, and mandolin. We are all over this podcast!

I also directed part of the first episode and have just been asked to direct the second episode! This podcast truly touches my heart and I am so incredibly excited to be a part of it. The fact that I get to combine two of the things that I love the most, Civil War History (specifically Gettysburg) and acting makes my heart flutter.

New Project!

Hello again!

I am so excited to announce that I have been cast in my first play in New York City! It will be my first ever public performance since I graduated High School and I cannot think of a better role! “The Song of the Great Horned Rabbit” is a one act, fantastical comedy, written and directed by James Barone for the Manhattan Repratory Theater. “The Song of the Great Horned Rabbit” is about two travelers who stumble across a mysterious diner in the Valley. They enter and are swept up by a magical jackalope. Craziness and hilarity ensues. It is coming up on July 18th, 20th, and 21st at Manhattan Repratory Theater! I am so incredibly excited for this role, I love her so much . I get to play out my childhood fantasy of being a Renaissance Queen (how does that correlate with a small diner in the Vally you ask? Come see the show to find out)!

Post Graduation Nerves

Hello and welcome to my new website! I am an actress based in New York City and a recent graduate of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts! Now that I have graduated, it begs the question: what now?

Well, some very exciting news right off the bat, I am currently portraying Tillie Pierce in the new podcast “Addressing Gettysburg” (there will be another post explaining the podcast soon) I am also working on the revamped web-series “Retro City” as well as working on a project in Long Island City! I am very thankful that I have been blessed to be working on three things immediately after graduation.

What am I feeling after graduation? Very thankful. Throughout my two years at the conservatory I met so many great people, especially teachers, who helped me and greatly influnced my life. Thinking back on my time there I realized how special they are and how much I look forward to working with them in the future. Other than that, I am feeling very excited for what the future has in store for me. I’m excited to share my story with you!
